Denying Sex To Husbands Is A Form Of “Psychological And Emotional Abuse”, Malaysian MP
Malaysian MP, Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh, from the Terengganu state has received widespread outrage after he said women who deny sex to their husbands cause “psychological and emotional abuse.”
The 58-year politician was addressing a debate on domestic violence in a parliamentary session. Malaysia is working on adjusting laws against domestic violence.
According to the MP, “Even though men are said to be physically stronger than women, there are cases where wives hurt or abuse their husbands in an extreme manner.”

He added that wives usually curse their husbands which is an emotional abuse. “They insult their husbands and refuse his sexual needs,” he continued. To him, all of these causes “psychological and emotional abuse.”
His stand has drawn outrage from women’s rights activist, Marina Mahathir, daughter of Malaysia’s former PM, Mahathir Mohamed. She told AFP that “Women have a right to say no to sex. It is ridiculous to say men are abused if women say no.”

It also brought about widespread anger online with Facebook users criticizing Mr Che’s “primal mentality”.
One user, Gopenatan Madaven said “Women are not sexual tools.”
Another said “Why are we paying such uncivilized people to represent our country anyway?”
